Tae Kwon Do

I’ve always felt that my life as an athlete never ran parallel to all the things that I wanted to do, especially in regards to my academic life.

Over the years, however, little by little, there has been more overlap between these multiple lives.  Before, I’ve been able to lead “self-defense” classes to teach really basic maneuvers & how one would better thrown a punch or a kick. But I felt that if my tkd life was one circle of a Venn diagram, my academic life was another circle, I felt that there was minimal overlap.

This year, through a fellowship from the UC Berkeley Public Service Center, I’ll really be able to incorporate TKD into my human rights work.  I hope that I don’t have to chose one or the other and that I can keep pursuing my passions all equally.
